IRS Scam
Police are warning about an outbreak of scammers claiming to be with the IRS, but instead looking to rip you off. Authorities say more and more people have been receiving these fraudulent calls. The scammers claim money is owed to the IRS or to the Department of Treasury. The IRS will not call your house. They are only sending official mail and if you have a question about taxes you might owe, or in a situation you may feel you’re in, call the IRS yourself. Reminder to all members not to give away any personal information, and to ignore the calls. If you do receive a call, you can contact the IRS scam hotline at 1-800-366-4484.
